Getting Better
Submitted by sarahdarr on Sat, 04/26/2008 - 17:01.Well, I am finally starting to get better. We (meaning Paul and me) could not wait any longer for Blue Shield to process my stuff (I have been trying to get a health care plan through them, but there have been some delays getting my information released from Loma Linda...which I normally would not mind, but because I am sick, well, I guess that my patience is just not what it normally is, so we will still get the plan, but I needed another option for my immediate use), so Paul looked online for a medical clinic that would see me for cheap...we found one around the corner from us!

Sick
Submitted by sarahdarr on Mon, 04/21/2008 - 20:07.If there is one thing that I hate more than anything else, it is being sick. Granted, I am not as sick today as I have been in the past, but I am still sick today. I have this sore throat that reminds me that it is sore whenever I try to talk or swallow. Isn't that nice of it?

Lady Bugs!
Submitted by sarahdarr on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 22:10.Let me just tell you...I have never met a lady bug that I don't like...I have always thought that they were some of the cutest bugs that there are (I mean think about it...there are a lot of pretty ugly bugs). But apparently I am not the only person that thinks that they are cute. It seems like it is ingrained in every five-year-old on the planet to pick up every lady bug that they see and PUT IT IN THEIR POCKET. Now normally this would not be a major issue, but it seems as if someone has released A MILLION lady bugs right near the school where I work, meaning, of course, that the majority of the said-released lady bugs have naturally migrated to the plants right outside of the kindergarten playground. Yesterday alone, I had to pick 15 lady bugs out of the pockets of 3 girls' pants.

Working Like Crazy
Submitted by sarahdarr on Thu, 04/10/2008 - 22:39.This week has been quite hectic. There has been one day that I have been in a classroom for the entire day. I have been taking over for a few of the other teachers who do small group work, among other things, because they are at Science Camp with the 6th graders (which I think must be a BLAST for the kids...I don't think my elementary school growing up even had the option of going to Science Camp).

Ahh...Spring Break!
Submitted by sarahdarr on Thu, 04/03/2008 - 16:55.Well, I have had a wonderful few days and have a few more to boot. Don't get me wrong...I love my job, I really do...but Spring Break has been really nice. I have been able to catch up on some things that I really needed to catch up on.Some of you might think I am weird, and some of you might understand, but I was actually excited to be able to clean our apartment. I have been letting it go since I have been so busy at work. It feels really good to have it be clean again. Also, Paul and I were able to go to the temple on Tuesday. It is so peaceful there!

Whew!
Submitted by sarahdarr on Sat, 03/29/2008 - 15:30.Well, I made it. I haven't posted a new blog as of late because I have been really busy at work. I had to take over a class from a long term sub (the full-time teacher was on maternity leave) because she was not able to stay the extra two weeks that was required (the maternity leave was a little longer than was expected). At first, I was really stressed out. I have done my student teaching, so I have done lesson plans and have had my own class, but in that scenario, I had my master teacher to fall back on, and I had the class for 10 weeks...long enough to set my own guidelines and earn their trust and respect. With this class, I had 2 weeks. Needless to say, the first few days were a little rocky.

Hooray for Bikes!
Submitted by sarahdarr on Tue, 03/11/2008 - 22:16.Yesterday was so cool! We went 10 miles on our bikes. When we stopped to turn around (the sun was starting to go down) at about 5 miles, we reached an overpass, but we didn't know which street it was. Then Paul told me to look directly to my left, and off in the distance, we saw Big C Mountain.

Bike Riding
Submitted by sarahdarr on Sat, 03/08/2008 - 09:13.This week we went bike riding three times. There is a really cool paved trail that is not too far away from our apartment. The trail starts somewhere in San Bernardino and will eventually connect to the one that goes from Corona to the beach (right now our trail ends in Norco, which is pretty close to Corona). I don't know if Paul and I will ever ride all the way to the beach (it is a pretty long ride) but for now the part of the trail that we have been riding along is really pretty. It goes along the Santa Ana river bed, so there is all sorts of vegetation and even some wildlife (we have seen quail, hawks and a ground squirrel). Not to mention that it is really fun to go out with Paul. We have time to talk about things and get away from all the crazy stressful things in life.

Fun Day
Submitted by sarahdarr on Fri, 02/29/2008 - 13:14.Today was an awesome day at work. For those of you that don't know, I am a substitute teacher. I have my preliminary multiple subject teaching credential, but it seems like there are not too many districts hiring right now, especially with the much-talked-about budget cuts, so I am subbing full-time. Right now I am a resident sub at a school in Bloomington, and I really like it. Today was a really fun day. First of all, it was PJ day, so everyone got to wear their PJs. Then, it was also Read Across America, so the entire school spent the day reading books and doing fun activities that involved books. The kids even got to make ooblick (I think that is how it is spelled) which is this really slimy gooey stuff. I just thought it was awesome that we are putting a positive spin on books.

I've finally succumbed
Submitted by sarahdarr on Wed, 02/27/2008 - 11:57.Well, I've finally succumbed to the "blog monster". It's not that I have ever made fun of people that blogged, actually, I have always thought that it was kind of cool, but never thought that I would ever have a blog. Then it seemed like everyone I knew had one, so I thought to myself, "Why not?!" So here is my blog...it will most likely be mostly about work (where else am I gonna vent?) and my family (I don't have any kids yet, but I have many nieces and nephews that I am sure will provide ample entertainment for slower days. Plus, there is always my crazy self musings that will also be quite entertaining). I have already put up some pictures (with help from my full-time IT guy Paul, aka my sweet hubby) that we have recently had taken by our friend Angela McInroe.
