A Blogging Slacker's Update

Okay...here goes: Hi, I'm Sarah, and I am a blogging slacker...I really should start a group for myself and people like me...I could call it Blogging Slackers Anonymous. Perfect! We could even shorten it to BSA...wait, that won't work. The Boy Scouts of America will want to sue us for copyright infringement, and it might not necessarily be a good idea to found a group that has "BS" in its title. Besides, what's up with the way that people introduce themselves in an anonymous group? If the whole point is to be anonymous, why introduce yourself and tell everybody who you are? Anyways, that's not really the purpose of this blog. The purpose of this blog is to let everyone know what's been going on since...hold on, looking up date of last post...SEPTEMBER 22?! Man, I AM a slacker! Well, here's the Reader's Digest version (without all the witty anecdotes, jokes, and inspirational life-saving stories, of course). The rest of September and October went by in a blur. I was lucky enough to have 2 long term jobs back-to-back. This was really good because I have a feeling that the sub pool has been over-loaded with laid off teachers, and I have heard that jobs have been sparse (besides the increase in sanitary practices to keep the kids free of the dreaded H1N1...it seems that teachers are not getting as sick this year, which is good...really, it is...just not for my paycheck). My last assignment, I worked in the Learning Center at one of the elementary schools. I loved it! I got to give kids, that were struggling, help with Language Arts. I would work with them in small groups, so each kid really got one-on-one time with me...which is really great for them. As for November, I worked quite a bit the first week and then was expecting a 3 week holiday (again, not excellent for the paycheck area) but found out that the same school that I worked the Learning Center for needed someone to help with a week-long intersession program. This was for kids that scored OVER a certain score on the CSTs...a hands-on, think out-of-the-box program. I got to teach a group of about 15 fifth graders...it was so much fun to get to do fun yet educational activities with them. What else? oh...Paul and I made our annual trek to Knott's because veterans (and their dependants...me!) get in for free in November. It was so fun because there was almost nobody there...we didn't have to wait for a single ride, and even got to ride a few more than once without having to get off...awesome! Last week and next week were and are my vacation weeks, then back to work (I hope i get calls!) for 3 weeks and then off for Christmas...oh, and the best news of all, somebody finally realized what an awesome librarian Paul is and offered him a job, so he gets to start working for one of the elementary schools here in our local school district...we are so grateful for that! Whew...here's to hoping that I stop slacking so that I don't have to write such long posts!
